Mac vs. PC: Some Can Dish It Out & Take It, Others… Not So Much

macvspcSo Microsoft put together an ad (embedded below with more to come apparently) that does what Apple started (comparing PCs and Macs) only from Microsoft’s perspective. That is, when either side plays this game, they focus on the pros of their team while pointing out the cons of the other side all while conveniently forgetting to mention their own cons.

Hotels Still Charging for Internet But Now There’s No Need to Pay

Posted on March 20, 2009March 28, 2009 By Bob Caswell 3 Comments on Hotels Still Charging for Internet But Now There’s No Need to Pay

About a year ago, I was on vacation and annoyed at how much hotels charge for Internet. So I blogged about it. I’m on vacation yet again but this time am blogging about how I’m not annoyed. The difference?

I’m blogging from my G1 phone (just installed a sweet WordPress blogging app). In fact, I’ve got everything I need on this baby and won’t be giving any hotels $10 per day for awhile.

When will I be able to tweak my ice cream like my PC gaming graphics?

Posted on February 1, 2009February 1, 2009 By Bob Caswell 6 Comments on When will I be able to tweak my ice cream like my PC gaming graphics?

Ice CreamThis week I found myself in the frozen section browsing for ice cream. I’m not even sure how I ended up there and why ice cream, but my subconscious was apparently way ahead of me. Once my conscious kicked in, the comparing started.

There’s, of course, plenty to choose from if you’re in the mood for flavors that put the ice cream in the running for world record of highest calorie density food. My personal favorite in this category: Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked Fudge Brownie & Cookie Dough. So good!

Buying a “Smart” Phone for the First Time: Which One?

Posted on January 18, 2009January 18, 2009 By Bob Caswell 6 Comments on Buying a “Smart” Phone for the First Time: Which One?

g1phoneFirst, I work for Microsoft. But I tend to purchase/use Microsoft products only when they are the best option for me personally (and they often are). In this case, I did actually look at Windows Mobile as my first choice. I’m on T-Mobile and not willing to switch carriers (most of my extended family is on T-Mobile, so I use hardly any minutes and like it that way, plus T-Mobile is the cheapest of all carriers and has been good to me the past few years).

New Year’s Resolution #1: Blog More

Posted on January 18, 2009 By Bob Caswell 6 Comments on New Year’s Resolution #1: Blog More

It’s been two months since my last post, and I’ve decided to get back into blogging. It feels like so many times in the past couple months something has happened, and I’ve thought to myself, “I should blog about that.” Well, now I think I will. For those keeping score at home (that would be…

HD DVDs are going away. But should you buy Blu-ray?

Posted on November 16, 2008November 17, 2008 By Bob Caswell 9 Comments on HD DVDs are going away. But should you buy Blu-ray?

The first half of my title is taken straight from the title of an email I received from Netflix a couple days ago (see end of post for text of the email). In short, as of December 15, 2008, Netflix will no longer carry HD DVDs. Around the same time I got this email, coincidentally, a friend of mine sent me an email about an online sale offering $2 HD DVD movies.

My $.02 on Apple’s Response to Microsoft’s Response

Posted on October 20, 2008October 20, 2008 By Bob Caswell 11 Comments on My $.02 on Apple’s Response to Microsoft’s Response

So in case you missed it, Apple responded to Microsoft’s new “I’m a PC” ad campaign. You can watch the ads on Youtube via Gizmodo and TechCrunch (or a whole bunch of other places). I was discussing this with a friend / coworker last night and thought I’d share my thoughts here:

My First Time Using Craigslist

Posted on September 10, 2008 By Bob Caswell 28 Comments on My First Time Using Craigslist

Somehow I missed the Craigslist memo. It could have something to do with the fact that I haven’t used even eBay for a while. (I used to be on eBay quite a bit but gave it up a few years ago when Amazon proved to be a worthy replacement with much less hassle.) But we recently moved and found ourselves with a couple of items needing a new home due to space constraints in our new place. Namely: a Yamaha electronic keyboard and a spare fold-a-bed.

So I signed up for Craigslist and posted these items online. Here’s what I found:
