Thank's Bob C, for clarifying it for people who don't know.

It seems to me that average computer users "i.e. non tech-savvy users" will probably see those corporate funded sites which downplay net Neutrality. Since most people don't understand how the Internet really is, they are probably very likely to follow the Large corporations' viewpoints and the Internet will be a bad place for all. (ie google's content being slowed down because google didn't make a big payment to SBC or Verizon)

If tech-savvy people inform the general public about what Net-Neutrality is, then perhaps we can spare ourselves the cable-ization of the Internet.

iku,

Let me clarify:

Good Net Neutrality = Broadband providers inability to turn the Internet into something like cable TV.

Evil Net Neutrality = The FCC enforcing their vision of "neutral" upon Internet content.

Two Types of Net Neutrality: Good Evil

Is this really the case? Are there senators and congressmen out there thinking that all this net neutrality fuss is about people wanting the FCC to regulate the internet? This article brings up and interesting point, because knowing how government see...

The fucks at the Fed level will certainly screw it up...WTF do a bunch of 55+ year old politicians know about the internet anyway...In 15 years they'll all be retired old folks who have dissappeared into obscurity and won't give a two shits about net neutrality.

This legislation is meant to "CONTROL the flow" of information and will be used in nefarious ways.

Leave the net free and open to all.

Google and others should just slow down the response to any request coming through the backbone charging your site more.
And for those extorting backbone owners put a message saying "your service is slower becuase XYZ doesn't provide an equal access to this website. Try another provider for faster performance."
After all if they can throttle pipelines you as a website owner like google can throttle content to those pipelines.

Also hand out mesh networking wirelss WIMAX routers to the population by the bucketful to ensure a free alternative wireless internet backbone not controlled by these corporate jerks like Tempe Arizona has.
