Even if plenty of people have complaints about Norton products, one thing they're good at is informing you of any problems. If you load your Norton configuration screen and see green check marks, then you're good.

I personally wouldn't worry about Belarc Advisor's warning if Norton says everything is tip top.

Hi,
I am relatively new to the world of computers and hope you can help with the following query. I have
NIS2007 installed and as far as I can see it is working properly. Belarc Advisor however, keeps saying that real-time file scanning is off! Why is this so?
Best regards,
Peter

I'd like to see a front page article with your thoughts on http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/admins/editions.html
the new GoogleApps. Google Apps and a machine running Ubuntu, can you take your company off Microsoft?

Mike,

I would test the drive on another computer to see if the problem is being caused by the drive or the computer. If the same problem exists on another computer, get a new drive via warranty replacement as soon as possible.

If the problem doesn't exist on another computer, try other USB ports on the original computer (and plugging in directly rather than through a hub, if you had one).

Joe,

While I haven't tried to network two computers with those exact versions of XP, I'm pretty sure it should work. Have you tried pinging each computer by IP address from the other computer? Do they respond?

One option is to manually force a share name to be associated with an IP address by editing the hosts file in Windows, usually located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc Open the hosts file using notepad to edit it. Hope this helps!
